Easy ways to make social media content planning and creating fun
Creating content for your business shouldn’t feel like a chore. If the thought of planning posts fills you with dread, it’s time to shake things up and make it something you actually enjoy. Because let’s be honest—when you’re having fun with it, your audience will feel that energy too!
Here’s how to turn your content creation process into something you look forward to:
1. Make it fun
If it feels boring or overwhelming, change the way you approach it! Think of content creation as a creative outlet rather than just another business task. Experiment with different formats—videos, carousels, behind the scenes snippets—until you find what feels good.
2. Create a ritual you love
Building a simple but enjoyable routine around your content planning can make all the difference. Here are some ways to make it feel special:
Wear comfy clothes – Nobody wants to create content in stiff jeans or a restrictive blazer. Go for something that makes you feel good.
Use fancy stationery – A beautiful notebook, your favourite pen, colourful post-its—whatever makes planning feel more enjoyable.
Have snacks and a drink ready – A great cup of coffee or a fancy herbal tea, plus your favourite treat, can make the process feel like a little self care moment.
Light a candle – Set the mood! A calming or energising scent can make your workspace feel inviting.
Play your favourite music – Whether you need upbeat tunes to get going or chilled out background music, create a playlist that sets the tone.
3. Change your scenery
If you’re always trying to create content at the same desk where you do all your other work, no wonder it feels uninspiring. Mix things up!
Head to a café and treat yourself to a nice lunch while you work.
Work from a co-working space or library for a fresh perspective.
If the weather’s nice, take your planning session outside; maybe a park or your garden.
4. Make it social
Content creation doesn’t have to be a solo activity!
Do it with a friend – Meet up with a fellow business owner and plan your content together. Bounce ideas off each other, offer feedback and keep each other accountable.
Batch film or take photos together – If creating visual content is what holds you back, why not swap skills? You can film for each other or take turns snapping photos.
5. Time block it into your calendar
Instead of squeezing content creation in between other tasks (or putting it off completely), schedule it into your week like an important meeting. Make it a non-negotiable appointment with yourself.
When you change the way you approach content creation, making it enjoyable rather than something to ‘get through,’ you’ll find it easier to stay consistent and creative. The more fun you have, the better your content will be!
